About Namibia

Namibia has a small population of 2.3 million people.

The country is 880 000 square km, so is the second least populated in the world at 2 per square km.  About 250 000 live in the capital city Windhoek.  Most of the population, about 1 million people live in the area north of the Tropic of Capricorn and the Etosha National Park.  This is largely subsistence farming and it is poor and underdeveloped.  Because most people live in this area, some 700 km from Windhoek, the MHSS and the Foundation have supported the development of clinical outreach services to this area with work conducted around Oshakati Intermediate Hospital.

Much of the work done in REMEDY and in RHD GEN was conducted from Oshakati.
